PadKeys locks Chrome in Apple Support Communities
This may be a problem with Chrome or the editor used by ASC, but it has happened several times to me. The only solution is to restart Chrome, losing all the input. It may be when entry has taken a relatively long time. No special keys were used, only backspace, and no correleation between a key and the lockup.

This seems to have been fixed by Apple in iOS 10. Please re-open a new issue if it turns up again in iOS 10 or later.

Glad to hear this. I just tested and it looks like we can remove our forward-delete work-around as well when running on iOS 10. We'll be doing this next release.

iOS 10 may have finally fixed this annoyance. I had abandoned PadKeys because it was causing this lockup every few days. I resumed on Thursday after the iOS 10 release, and it has not failed in daily use over 11 days. So far...

I definitely do not use the forward delete key, since I'm alerted to the problem. It only happens to me every 10 or 20 posts, so it's hard to reproduce. There might be some interaction with the periodic input backup mechanism in the editor. I don't do anything unusual just before it happens, so there's no magic key or operation that triggers it.
