iPhone: Move backspace to low position
On the iPhone, move the backspace key to the first or second row like it is on the system keyboard.
Hi, putting this idea on the forum so we can find out how many people prefer the backspace in one place or the other.
Currently it is in the top row. GOOD because it’s like other (non-phone) keyboards and allows the punctuation keys to be in their normal places. BAD because it makes backspace harder to hit and the keyboard is harder to get used to from other phone keyboards.
We could move it to the bottom row. GOOD because it’s like phone keyboards that people are used to, and allows the backspace to be easily hit. BAD because it’s different from standard keyboards and would move the punctuation keys to a strange, hard-to-hit place.
If opinions are split we might consider making it an option, but options make the keyboard more complicated to configure (and many users never open Settings) and to maintain.

I would LOVELOVELOVE this to be an option. It may be what prevents me from using it much as muscle memory is making me hit period constantly instead of delete. I did it at least 10x just typing this comment. I'd be fine with just a narrow one replacing the period as it will be easier to try to be more precise rather than learn a whole new location. I also don't want to fully retrain myself to use the new location since it will make it much harder to use other phones where I don't have this installed or switch to another keyboard if necessary (IE if Typefinity stops development or something – I'm sure you plan to keep doing it, but it's happened many times before).

Considering how often I still switch keyboards for features like dictation, it would be better to have placement consistent with other phone keyboards.
Thank you for the cursor keys. That's why I bought this keyboard.

We can see many users interested in this and will continue to try to find a way. We will not remove the cursor keys (even optionally) to support this, and in your proposal either the backspace will have to be too narrow (only width of one of the punctuation keys) or both will need to be moved to the top row, which is already crowded. And we need to solve this problem for all 22 layouts.

Late reply on an old post but can we please make this an option?
I was really happy to find this keyboard and bought it but find that the numbers row are quite tiny on my 12 mini. While not everyone will dive into the options, I believe there is enough warrant to implement this change.I took some time to upload 3 images describing it further where the comment about Typefinity is: "While I really appreciate the numbers row and not having data collection like Microsoft's Swiftkey (which gathers everything you type + previously typed if you want autocorrect to work at all), it's a bit tiny on smaller devices like Iphone SE, 7,8 and 12 mini due to having the erase button on the same row.
Combining , and . into one button or move them to < and > making room for the erase button would make an excellent addition.
Or at least make an option for this would make many users happy and most likely make new customers with less hesitation." -

While I prefer it at the top (I would much rather have the period/full stop in the usual place than a backspace key matching the Apple layout), I understand why having an option in the settings to swap Backspace with the Period/decimal point (.) key in the settings would be appreciated by some people. I assume a lower Backspace would be narrow like the current Period/Full Stop key: otherwise the coding would become extremely complex!
I also appreciate that having the option to swap them will make the coding difficult for all languages every time changes are implemented (e.g. short and tall layouts). The location at the top doesn't take long to get used to.

Do it. Yes please!

If a user really wanted it (ie me), they would definitely look for it in the settings. This is the single most important feature tempting me to return to the annoying iphone's system keyboard.
