1. Have question mark available by holding down period key

   This appears to be the only shaded key that does not behave this way. Holding down the period key gives only options for .com .org. and .us and not for a question mark.

2. Emoji key, option to remove arrows next to space bar

   This keyboard is great, but can you just add a convenient emoji button, and an option to disable the arrows on either side of the space bar? Those are unnecessary when you can just hold on the space bar and drag.

3. Caps lock should also lock special characters in the row of digits

   I'm using Padkeys v4.7.5 on my iPad Pro 12.9 inch with iOS 16. I noticed that when I activate caps-lock by double-tapping on the Shift key, after the second tap the row with digits comes back.

   I often need to type multiple asterisk characters or plus signs in a row. With the current behavior, I need to always keep pressing Shift once again.

   Why not simply lock in the special characters together with the uppercase letters? I mean, in the real world, who is typing all-caps and then needs quick access to numbers on top of that?

   However, coders or others who use the Markup language would appreciate being able to do the triple-asterisk or the double-asterisk more easily. Teenager-types who like to emphasize stuff [like so!!!!] would be happy, too. But simple regular users who like to separate topics in a mail with three plus signs in a row, or people who like to make some sort of a quick "arrow" by typing two >> or even three of those >>> would benefit from such behavior.

   The fact is, that with Apple's keyboard, all of the above can be accomplished by hitting the numbers key, bottom left. However, that keyboard is too crammed IMO, hence my choice to use yours.

   Could you update this in a future version?

   Hi, thanks for your suggestion. The current behavior was designed to make typing alphanumeric codes easier. For example airline booking references like 2JXY95, or car license plate numbers. We even reverse the caps-lock behavior in the French keyboard layout (where you have to hit shift to get numbers). 

   
   

   If we made the change you suggest, then you would not need to hold shift while typing + or > three times, but then these other cases would become harder. So it really depends which need is occurring more often in the real world. Other thoughts are welcome, thanks!

5. A different keyboard layout proposal

   I've been looking for a 3rd party keyboard that gives me a 4th row of numbers and for which I do NOT have to give full access to in the iPhone's settings. My primary use case is for an iPhone 13 mini in portrait orientation using the English language.

   In my every day typing I found several things in Typefinity to be lacking. Typical English text makes heavy use of the question mark, apostrophe, and hyphen (which is also used for negative numbers) but none of these characters are too convenient on Typefinity. You could argue that the hyphen and question mark are available, but I found the swipe-up gesture on those keys to be quite problematic. Additionally, the number row I was strongly after had tiny buttons (both in height and width) and having to swipe up on such a small target was an additional level of pain.

   I also found the low usage Settings key (with the gear icon) to be an inefficient use of precious space and I also found the < and > navigation keys to be somewhat useful, but just not worth the precious two key spaces they consume. Those two navigation functions can be redundantly achieved by long pressing the spacebar and dragging to move the cursor, or you could just touch and drag on the text you are typing. I also found that when repeatedly tapping the < or > keys my finger drifted position a little and I ended up hitting spacebar or carriage return keys etc. For just a couple left/right cursor movements you could perhaps implement a swipe left/right on the spacebar.

   To solve these issues, I started tweaking the keyboard layout using screenshots and a primitive drawing package on my Mac - I'm not artist, and most of this was just selecting graphics from various screenshots and pasting them elsewhere. My understanding is that you can't tweak the area at the bottom containing the globe and microphone icons because Apple doesn't allow it.

   Anyway, I have attached a screenshot of the graphics I've been working on and hope it kicks off a discussion.

   Couple random points before I conclude:
   - I don't see an easy way to select the emojis like on Apple's keyboard. Is there a way to get easier access to that (maybe as an option when long-pressing the option key or maybe swiping down instead of up on the option key?)
   - On the original Typefinity keyboard I noticed the width of the keys on the middle "asdf..." row to be a bit wider than the others.
   - Finding Typefinity in the App Store is almost impossible unless you search for the exact word "Typefinity". I stumbled across this app by accident in reading another article...

8. Keyboard shortcuts.

   Keyboard shortcuts. When auto complete is on, shortcuts do not expand; I have to select them in the suggestions. If i activate auto complete, I cant even type Ok without having it replaced by "oktober"

9. PadKeys crash with SIGQUIT

   Since I installed iPadOS 13, PadKeys has crashed randomly with SIGQUIT. This apparently means that it has attempted an action the system does not like. This has continued with iPadOS 14. This doesn't seem to have any consequences, but is certainly incorrect behavior. I've attached a typical log, and my log of all the events I've observed. These events do not seem to be coordinated with the jetsam events. I have saved all the logs, and could provide them if desired.

10. Possible adding Norwegian-nynorsk as language?

    Only last week got aware of Your Brilliant Typefininty Keyboard. It made my week!
    Suppose You didn't invent the "Norwegian Bokmål" dictionary, which is included, yourselves, .
    My iPad has "Norwegian Nynorsk" (which is a second norwegian national approved variant) available.
    Nynorsk makes my days better.
    Is it possible for the exquisite Typefinity-keyboard to use the "Norwegain Nynorsk" glossary?

    We are open to adding this. However we don’t currently have a source for Nynorsk word frequency data which is what we would need to implement it. Suggestions are welcome.

11. Hide character preview

    Please add a setting to hide the character oreview pop up when a key is pressed. The system keyboard has this option and your iPad keyboard also doesn't show the preview.
