Keyboard shortcuts are case sensitive and ones with symbols are not recognized
Thanks to user reports we have just been made aware of these issues:
PadKeys is case-sensitive: If you have a shortcut "xx" -> "something", then typing "Xx" will not trigger the shortcut. You have to type "xx".
PadKeys won't recognize shortcuts like "x@y" -> "xray1@yowzer.com" at all.
We are working on these and hope to submit a new version to the App Store in a couple of days. As always, folks interested in getting the fix sooner can open a ticket with us and we'll add you to the list to receive beta versions through TestFlight before they…
1 voteOK this has been taken care of in 1.3.2. Sorry it took so long to get out, there was an unrelated issue that derailed the review process a bit.
Please open a new issue if something is still not behaving as expected.

Make the space bar longer.
On the US English version of the keyboard there appears to be wasted space to the left side of the space bar.
if you could reduce the whitespace between the globe, delete forward and the middle key, the space bar could be longer.
1 voteIn 1.4.1 we made the spacebar a bit wider on the left side. We don’t want to crowd the bottom row keys too much since for the most part they have fairly drastic functions :) and the consequences of a finger slip are greater than elsewhere.

Caps Lock
What about Caps lock?
1 voteIt’s there (though maybe needs documenting). Double-tap the shift key to activate caps-lock, tap again to deactivate.

When using Dark Keyboard layout, make the littie lock picture on the shift keys white instead of Black.
When using the Dark Keyboard layout, make the little lock picture white
on the shift keys instead of Black. The Black on Gray is hard to see.
The Black is ok on the white keyboard layout. Thanks Steve1 voteFixed in version 2.0.

Non breaking space / non breaking hyphen
Non breaking space
OS X: Option-Space
PadKeys: Alt Space (suggestion)Non breaking divis "-"
OS X: Cmd-Shift-hyphen
PadKeys:1 voteAs of version 2.1, opt-space now produces a non-breaking space. This is indicated by the non-breaking space symbol shown on the right side of the space bar when opt is active. Non-breaking hyphen is the first option in the key popup menu for the hyphen key.
Please note that not all iOS apps support these characters and may convert them into their regular equivalents. For example, the Mail app does this conversion. On the other hand, Nebulous Notes is an example of an app which preserves the non-breaking attributes.

Error in German localization off English keyboard layout
I found a confusing error in German localization off English (!) keyboard layout:
The german translation of the "return" key is "Return" (the orig. english word) and not "Zurück" (that word means "backspace") in German.
So use "Return" or the return-symbol.1 voteFixed in version 2.0.

Add setting option to disable forward-delete key
On the Settings window, add a toggle control that determines whether the forward-delete key is enabled or disabled. That will allow those of us who use PadKeys primarily in Safari to keep it from freezing everything if we accidentally tap that key (which happens with disturbing regularity in my neck of the woods), while retaining the abiliy to turn it back on in safer environments.
1 voteI agree this is annoying, but Apple really should fix this bug rather than us doing gymnastics around it. Let’s see if iOS 9.3 can manage it.
UPDATE: Due to continuing inaction by Apple, we have implemented a work-around in version 2.2 at a small cost to the functionality. The delete key now operates somewhat more slowly and does not repeat on hold. But Safari hanging is largely prevented.

Compress the Keyboard in Horizontal-Mode (by choice)
I ask for an alternate compressed mode/layout for the keyboard in horizontal mode. That mode should be switched only by choice. I found out by testing many apps, that many of them expect a specific space (height) of the keyboard, especially in horizontal mode. To often apps are using the ios gray shortcut panel for necessary functions as in notes or pages. Most times I need both - the PadKeys panel plus the ios panel. But than at some apps I can even not view, what I am typing because it is shown in the vertical middle of the screen.…
1 voteThank you for the suggestion. We have implemented this in the just-released version 2.1.2. When in landscape mode, you may long-press the keyboard-away key to toggle a shorter layout. This layout will be “remembered” until you switch it back, but in portrait mode it is not active (since they keyboard is already short enough, relatively speaking). Note also that this mode is not active on the large iPad Pro since a shorter layout is used by default there anyway.

PadKeys locks Chrome in Apple Support Communities
This may be a problem with Chrome or the editor used by ASC, but it has happened several times to me. The only solution is to restart Chrome, losing all the input. It may be when entry has taken a relatively long time. No special keys were used, only backspace, and no correleation between a key and the lockup.
iPad air, iOS 9.3.21 voteThis seems to have been fixed by Apple in iOS 10. Please re-open a new issue if it turns up again in iOS 10 or later.

Done in 2.2.×.

Easier access to the word you spelt.
When autocorrect changes your word and you hit delete to go back to the end of the word it (the original word) should come up as an option. This is the case with the standard iPad keyboard.
Having to delete 3 times or hit the x next to the suggested word is frustrating.1 voteThis was released in version 2.2.6.

Make keyboard clicks like heardnin the application store video.
Keyboard clicks are as useless sounding asnin the ipads built in keyboard.
1 voteMultiple click options with different volume levels were added in version 3.1.

Check Text Replacement in swipe mode
Text replacement data currently does not seem to be accessed while swiping, but it should be accessed before any other dictionary, and used as the first/default suggestion.
1 voteIn version 3.1, shortcuts consisting of just lowercase letters are handled. Case-sensitive ones and ones containing symbols are not yet, but these may be less common.

Different key sounds
Would love to have the black keys (numbers etc) have a different sound, a third sound for shifted keys and one for the spacebar, would make it much easier to hear that the typing is correct
1 voteWe didn’t do all of this, but we followed Apple’s breakdown of different key types, and also we offer different sound options.

Blue word should be easier to dismiss
The blue x left of the blue word is almost impossible to hit on the iPad mini, please find a better way, preferably also with the option to take away suggestions, right now i almost give up on autocorrect
1 voteAs part of our iPhone release, we’ve updated the hit detection for the ‘x’ so it’s easier to hit.
Please note that the “option to take away suggestions” is already there. Please see this
video on how to access Settingshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvmqrDIqLRw&index=2&list=PLyL1G7AAiVY5_I51RPS0Y0ZqNxPFu0TZK
and then adjust the Autocorrect levelslider to one of the lower values.

Extend key flick to cursor keys
Apple keyboard uses vertical slide down on key taps e.g. to access symbols. would be great if you could do similar and go one better -- vertical upwards should do CAPS. on cursor keys it could do prev/next word without the annoying need for option key use.
...or even one vertical direction for prev word and the other for prev sentence?! vertical cursor movement would be better but I understand Apple don't give access.
1 voteImplemented in 4.1.2.

Use with hardware keyboard
It would be nice to sense if a hardware keyboard was engaged and not display the software keyboard unless explicitly requested from the hardware keyboard. Although trivial to dismiss the software keyboard, it is a distraction when using apps like Ulysses. Even better: make it a configurable option.

2.1.1 update breaks AU/NZ layout
In 2.1.1 update, selecting English, AU/NZ layout does not work; English, UK is shown instead.
0 votesOur apologies for this problem. It has now been fixed in 2.1.2 out in the app store now.
